Response:The Social Problem of it All

I agree that social security needs to go, and that my generation will probably be the one to kick it to the curb.
For my Grandparents, social security is seen as a right, as something they have earned. For me social security seems just a tad pointless. Considering the many, many issues the country could be applying money like that towards. For example education, almost every kid who goes to college (and let’s face it if you want a job you have to go to college these days) is going to graduate with debt. The American work force is beginning their adult lives in debt. Not to mention the sorry state of the public school system. That facelift would do wonders for our nation’s children. I agree with Mr. Martinez Social Security was necessary back then, but it is not a privilege I see in my future. Perhaps because I see myself working till old age, one thing that you learn growing up when your country seems to be in continuous economic crisis, is that if you can work, work. It is also a well- known fact that once you stop working you die. Social Security needs to stop securing old age retirement and start actually serving the people.
